CARLOS F. ORTA
Chair, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce
Carlos F. Orta is vice president of corporate affairs at Carnival Corporation, where he has leadership and oversight of state, local and international affairs. Orta also leads diversity and inclusion initiatives, and works closely with the company’s community relations and corporate communications programs.
In 1993, while serving as executive director of the Dade County Legislative Delegation, Orta was chosen to participate in the Leadership Miami program. In 1998 he served as the program’s chair during its 20th anniversary celebration.
Carlos is involved with the United Way’s Tocqueville Society and serves on Leadership Florida’s Southeast Regional Council, representing Class XV. He recently served as vice chair of the South Florida Progress Foundation.
In 2017, Barry University recognized him as Alumni of the Year, and in 2012, Miami Dade College inducted him into their Alumni Hall of Fame.
Carlos was born in Havana, Cuba and lived briefly in Madrid, Spain before coming to Miami in 1971. Orta and his wife, Mary Ann Gomez, reside in beautiful downtown Miami.
