Transportation & Infrastructure Goals

Provide guidance on funding and policies in upcoming 2012 federal surface transportation act, including the encouragement of public/private partnerships (P3) by minimizing excessive or unnecessary federal reporting requirements.

Advocate full funding for the High Speed Rail PD&E/environmental study for the Orlando to Miami segment.

Develop a common regional vision plan for transportation
• Develop, coordinate and promote regional transportation strategies and proposals with the potential for positive regional impact
• Support efforts of the South Florida Regional Planning Council – Sustainable Communities Planning Grant as part of developing a regional vision plan
• Support multimodal plans which build on sustainable solutions for all communities
• Participate in the planning process of local, state and federal agencies

Identify and support high priority and high impact infrastructure projects which enhance mobility and provide realistic and sustainable solutions for the efficient movement of people and goods:
• Select projects based on criteria that include the ability to improve economic productivity, international competitiveness and quality of life as well as project viability
• Explore the potential to fully fund the Miami to Orlando rail PD&E study as part of the Florida Passenger Rail System

Explore alternative transportation and infrastructure funding solutions for support at the federal, state and local level

Continue to provide a leadership role for the “Keep It MOVN” initiative.
