Youth Leadership Miami Future Exeucutive Program (YLMFEP) is a program targeted to sophomores, juniors and seniors who are in good standing scholastically and attend either public or private high schools located in Miami-Dade County. This exciting and fun program is patterned after the highly successful and widely recognized Leadership Miami program. YLMFEP brings together young people from different backgrounds and experiences, to gain knowledge and explore issues affecting Greater Miami's youth and our community at large. In addition, leadership and personal development is an integral part of the YLMFEP experience.
YLMFEP is a six and one-half day, high-energy series of conferences/workshops from March to December 2008. Day One will kick off with the Team Ropes Adventure Challenge. This unique series of activities is focused on team members working together to solve structured problems in an outdoor setting. The adventure activities promote confidence, teamwork, respect, communication, problem-solving and leadership. Day two will include a wide variety of activities with community leaders, government officials, and prominent business executives, all sharing their views on our community and their leadership skills. The day will end with an energetic motivational speaker. Day three will include a community service project in coordination with National Youth Service Day. Day four will provide a career advisement workshop and the Day five workshop will inventory student aptitudes and abilities. Days one to five will take place between March and December 2008. Day six plus a “Graduation Awards Ceremony” will occur in the winter to further develop student leadership and future executive skills. All selected participants may receive up to 48 community service hours upon completion of the program.
