MIAMI (October 1, 2025) – The South Florida Progress Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, today announced it has officially changed its name to the Greater Miami Chamber Foundation. The new name more clearly reflects the foundation’s mission to serve as the philanthropic and community impact arm of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC).

As a separate legal entity from the Chamber, the Greater Miami Chamber Foundation is dedicated to advancing research, programs, and initiatives that strengthen Miami’s business climate and support the region’s long-term growth. Its mission is to foster community collaboration, leadership development, and innovative solutions to challenges facing Greater Miami, while its vision is to build a thriving, inclusive, and globally competitive community.

“The decision to rename the South Florida Progress Foundation to the Greater Miami Chamber Foundation reflects our commitment to ensuring the Foundation’s identity is closely aligned with its purpose,” said Alfred Sanchez, President & CEO of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Greater Miami Chamber Foundation Board Chair, Lucy Nuñez, Senior Vice President and Senior Commercial Lender for Pacific National Bank, adds, “The new name conveys both the strength of its partnership with the Chamber and its independent role in shaping the future of our community through research, leadership, and philanthropy.”

Through its nonprofit status, the Foundation leverages charitable support to fund programs and initiatives that directly benefit the Greater Miami region, positioning it as a driver of civic engagement, leadership cultivation, and economic advancement.
