Alejandro Diaz, MD
Dr. Alejandro Diaz is chief of the Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS) Section of Endocrinology and director of the Division of Endocrinology at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. He is also an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Diaz earned his medical degree from Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia. He then completed a residency in pediatrics at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York-Presbyterian Hospital. His clinical interests include management of children with conditions affecting the normal functioning of the thyroid gland, abnormal growth, early or late pubertal development, adrenal disorders, disorders of sex development, and diabetes.
Dr. Diaz is board certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology. He is a member of the Endocrine Society and Pediatric Endocrine Society. Dr. Diaz has been published in numerous medical journals and presented at conferences both nationally and globally. He has also contributed chapters to medical textbooks and frequently provides commentary to the media as a subject-matter expert.
Nestor F. De La Cruz Munoz, Jr., MD
Dr. de la Cruz Muñoz is a Professor of Surgery, fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery. He also is a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic Bariatric Surgery. Dr. de la Cruz-Muñoz has performed more than 7,000 bariatric surgeries using minimally invasive techniques and was at the forefront of adopting a minimally invasive laparoscopic approach for bariatric surgery. He is a national leader in outstanding surgical outcomes and has received numerous awards throughout his career. Additionally, he has given many presentations, nationally and internationally, on bariatric and general surgery topics. Dr. de la Cruz-Muñoz received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine after graduating with a BS in biology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
