The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce's Workforce Housing Committee is hosting its next program focused on Leverage & Maximize Tax Benefits and Incentives for Small to Mid-Size Workforce Housing Development. Presented by Ocean Bank. 

Developing workforce and affordable housing is critical to addressing housing affordability challenges. By leveraging tax benefits and incentives, it can make these projects more financially viable.   

Join us as we bring together industry experts to discuss tax and incentive programs that support workforce and affordable housing development projects throughout Miami-Dade County.  

This event is designed for real estate developers, investors, lenders, contractors, real estate attorneys, accountants, architects, and business leaders committed to addressing housing affordability in Miami-Dade County.

Speakers

Anthony De Yurre, Moderator

Anthony De Yurre is a Partner in Bilzin Sumberg's Land Development & Government Relations Group. His practice exclusively focuses on the representation of real estate developers and investors in complex land use and zoning matters with a focus on transit- oriented development, large scale mixed-use development, public private partnerships and multifamily workforce housing.  As a native Miamian, Anthony recognizes the tremendous need for attainable housing throughout Florida and is heavily engaged in Live Local Act (SB102 and SB328) legislation, interpretation and application at both the state and local levels. 

Anthony is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Miami’s LL.M. in Real Property Development where he teaches “Problem Solving Large Scale, Mixed-Use Development”.  He is also Co-Chair of the University of Miami’s Real Property Development LL.M Advisory Board.  Upon graduating from Duke University and Vanderbilt Law, Anthony returned home to Miami to earn his LL.M. in Real Property Development from the same program he teaches at today at the University of Miami.  Anthony is also fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

Rogelio Villarreal

Rogelio Villarreal is Executive Vice President and Head of Commercial Lending at Ocean Bank, where he is also a member of the bank’s 11-member executive committee. Villarreal joined Ocean Bank in 2001.

He began his banking career in 1982 at the Bank of Miami, where he worked in the credit, loan processing internal control, field audit and lending departments, and in 1986 moved to Terrabank, NA as vice president and manager of the West Dade branch.

Villarreal also directed bank operations and was manager of the Hialeah branch at Eastern National Bank and was a member of the commercial lending and business development units at Commercebank, NA.

He completed the three-year Domestic and International Banking program at the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking and has an associate degree in arts from Miami-Dade College.

Villarreal and his wife Odalys reside in Kendall. They have two daughters and two grandchildren.

Michelle Sadeghy, PE

Michelle Sadeghy is a director on the Credits & Incentives team within the Tax Services Advisory Group at Kaufman Rossin. As a mechanical engineer with a background in energy efficiency in commercial buildings, she helps clients qualify for various energy credits and incentives, including the 179D deduction for energy efficient commercial buildings and the 45L Energy Efficient Home Credit for developers. 

She brings over a decade of experience as a project manager and energy modeler for design and construction teams. She has worked on over 40 Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects and provided energy design consulting on over 300 projects through one of the nation’s leading utility providers. 

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering and a minor in Leadership Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder. She is a Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) in Florida and California and a National Green Building Standard (NGBS) Verifier. She is a graduate from the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Leadership Institute and is an active member of ULI. 

Amina Newsome

Amina Newsome is a seasoned leader with over 19 years of experience in planning, permitting, zoning, and community outreach within Miami-Dade County. She currently serves as the Division Director for the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) – Planning Strategies and Land Management, where she focuses on advancing affordable homeownership programs for County residents. 

In her role, Amina plays a critical part in planning, coordinating, and executing complex housing projects, driving impactful changes in the housing sector. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Michigan State University, along with certificates in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and sustainability, reflecting her commitment to innovative solutions in housing development.
